Melissa Askren is now in her third year as Assistant Director of Bands for the Blue Valley Northwest Band Program.
Mrs. Askren was previously the Director of Bands for three years at the Osage City School District in Osage City, Kansas. She received a Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State University in December 2011, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
In addition to teaching at Northwest, Mrs. Askren also teaches beginning band at Cottonwood Point Elementary, Oak Hill Elementary, and Heartland Elementary.
Melissa Askren and her husband, Todd, live in Overland Park. Todd works as a veterinarian in the Olathe and Belton, Missouri, areas.
